January 2026 Art News

Happy New Year!

January will be a busy month with 2 upcoming exhibitions.

My solo show "States of Nature" will be at Mission Bay Branch Library starting January 11. I'm showing 9 papercuts in this series that I have been working on for almost 10 years now.  Here's a bit more about it:

The shapes of US States were created artificially and only partially based on geological features, yet each state has a state animal, bird, reptile etc. Inspired by this and an old 1943 atlas with beautiful maps, the artist creates an overview of wildlife for each state confined by its borders. They include state animals, commonly sighted wildlife and rare endemic species.

Join me for the reception at Mission Bay Branch, Sunday, January 25, 2-3pm. https://sfpl.org/events/2026/01/25/celebration-states-nature

My other show is a little further away at MONCA Museum in Chico. I have 2 pieces in "Perch, Flutter, Soar" their annual bird-themed show coinciding with the Snow Goose Festival. The reception is on Friday, January 23, 5-8pm. https://monca.org/blogs/exhibitions/perch-flutter-soar
