Redwood Spring

If you like to see how it is done, here are some process photos from sketch to finished piece for a recent papercut called "Redwood Spring" which celebrates the ecosystem of California's redwoods.

One of the things I love about papercuts is that it is a reductive process, almost sculptural, in that the image slowly emerges as parts of the paper are cut away. The last cut is always along the outline and while always being a bit nerve-wracking also feels like setting the piece free.
